About Me
I was born in South Yorkshire but grew up in Cornwall and have lived in multiple other counties. Whilst I’ve experienced a lot of change in my life, one thing has always remained the same - my love of toilet humour! Farts in particular have always been my Achille’s heel when it comes to things that make me giggle uncontrollably.
It is this gaseous element in me which sparked an idea for a children’s picture book…
Once in the dead of night whilst I was tending to my baby daughter who had stirred in the night, I passed wind and thought to myself “I wonder if she can smell that… can you imagine if she had heard that?!” This led to my thoughts fast-forwarding way into the future when she would be a young child, asking me whether I’d farted and me denying it.
In 2023, I began writing ‘Mummy, did you fart?’ - my first ever book! I was excited beyond belief and was determined to share my story with the world. After having been rejected by several agencies and thus not going down the traditional publishing route, I decided to go down the self-publishing route. Whilst initially this wasn’t my preferred option and didn’t quite fill me with the same pride I would have felt had I got in with an established book publisher, I later retracted this feeling and instead can now acclaim that I do feel proud of my achievement!
Did I think it would be a huge hit worldwide? No, I didn’t, but what was important to me was to be a role model for my daughter and demonstrate that if you are determined enough to reach for the stars, then you can make your dream come true. The idea that one day we may see my book in a store and she proudly point it out to her friends, fills me with joy and is simply MISSION ACCOMPLISHED for me.
